Who To Thank In Your Father of the Bride Speech

You might well be the father of the bride, but during your reception speech you mustn’t neglect the other influences in your daughter’s life. Her wedding day is all about her, but in recognizing how amazing she is, you simply cannot pass over the contributions of others. Countless people have crossed her path during her maturing, but there are still a few you will need to include who have has just as much influence as yourself. These are the folks who you mustn’t forget to thank in your speech.

Her Mother

It may sound obvious, but in the excitement of your time in the spotlight, it can be very easy to forget he woman brought your daughter into the world. A mother’s love is tender and caring, but you can bet that if she’s left out of your thanks during the night, you’ll be hearing about it for quite a while. It can be as simple as a tender nod during the moment where you mention influences during your speech, or can be an outright thank you, but rest assured, you should not pass your daughter’s mother over.

The Parent’s of the Groom

Tradition withstanding, the parents of the groom put a great deal of time into the planning of the wedding, as well as the reception itself. Make note of the arrangements, and be sure you understand what their accomplishments have been besides raising the man who will raise your grandchildren. It could be time and effort, or simply wedding finances, but whatever the case, be sure to thank them humbly.

The Wedding Planner

This is debatable in some circles, but a wedding planner who has put together your daughter’s special day without a hitch is someone worthy of praise. Aside from their fee, a thank you for their personal touches and contributions works as an endorsement on the part for those in attendance. IT could also be that you have other children looking to marry in the near future, and it’s not a bad idea to stay friendly with the person accepting your checks.

The Audience Themselves

It can be cynical to think the people across the room are only there for the open bar and catered dinner, but truly they are there to share your daughter’s special day. Some have travelled quite a distance to be there, and graciously thanking them for their love and attendance is a classy way to make them feel welcomed.

How To Make Your Father Of The Bride Speech Melt Her Heart

How To Make Your Speech Melt Her Heart

How to make your speech melt her heart

Writing a memorable father of the bride speech isn’t the same as delivering the speech, so it’s important to be prepared in different ways for both instances. Writing takes time to reflect on what your little girl would love you to say. Presenting it takes a bit of confidence and practice. These tips will help you work out the bugs in both, and give you that confidence to perform your father of the bride duty so everyone in attendance will remember it for ages.

Father of the Bride Speech Advice

Simply stated, you should seek it out. Even if you have already given away seven brides, strengthening your skills is a sure way to get yourself on the right track. Ask around the office for anyone who wishes to share stories about speeches they have given or have heard. Take the best examples and see if you can fit them into your speech. On the same hand, pay attention to the horror stories and try to stay clear of making the same mistake. Any knowledge gained only makes your speech that much better.

Father of the Bride Duty

It is your little girl’s big day, and though you want to celebrate it with abandon, be sure to pay attention to what you are drinking. Having too much alcohol in your system can throw all of your preparation into the can, so make sure you are of a sober mind when giving your memorable father of the bride speech. Pace yourself until it’s your time in the spot light in order to deliver with a clear mind. A clouded mind will wander and cause an embarrassing memory. Today’s not the day to throw yourself into the revelry. Be aware, and help add to a happy memory.

The Best Father of the Bride Speech Advice

Speak from the heart and take sometime in the weeks leading up to the wedding reception to jot down loving memories about your little girl. Practice every chance you can to cut out the extra details and digressions that can over-shadow your perfect story. This is a wonderful time to share your love with your daughter, and help make those in the audience understand how special she is. Once you feel you have a good speech down, ask friends to let you practice on them. They may see opportunities to strengthen the speech by noticing holes in your story or parts where it just doesn’t make sense.

Prepare Your Speech Or Prepare For Disaster!

Why Preparation For Your Father Of The Bride Speech Is A Must

Why Preparation For Your Speech Is A Must

Why preparation for your speech is a must

If you ask anyone for father of the bride speech tips, the one you will hear most is to be prepared. Father of the bride speech preparation is just as crucial to a reception’s success as making sure the catering service arrives on time. As a central event during the party, your speech is designed to elevate the emotions in the room by sharing a tender moment of reflection with the guests. It’s your little girl who is getting married today, and taking any father of the bride speech tips you can get your hands on will only increase your chances of success.

Take Your Time

Starting weeks before the reception, start finding time during your day to reflect on your daughter’s journey to adulthood. Make little notes about stories that show how special she is, and then work to find the perfect one that shows her greatest qualities. These stories should be based on her experiences rather than your experiences with her. The day is all about her, after all, not you. With that one story jotted down, fill in the endearing details that will help it come alive for the audience. There’s no need to be clever or write like a novelist – simply tell it from the heart.

Come Prepared

There is nothing wrong with writing your speech down on paper or index cards to read from during the reception. Not everyone is comfortable speaking in front of large groups, and having the speech ready in advance is simply a good way to prepare father of the bride speech ‘hiccups’ before they occur. With the speech in hand, there’s no way you will forget the small details that make your moment in the spotlight special for your little girl.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Start in the comfort of your own home in front of a bedroom mirror. Read the speech out loud several times to see where you want to stress certain elements and which ones you want to sneak in for the big finish. Watch yourself in the mirror as you speak and pay close attention to your posture. Standing up straight adds strength to your voice and projects confidence.

Once you have mastered the mirror, find someone who will listen while you give a practice speech so as to respond with feedback. You may well know your speech and the little nuances the stories carry, but an impartial listener will be able to let you know what works and what isn’t.
